I meant to post this the other day…you know how that goes.
There is a clever web-based “tv show” if you will called “The Guild“. The Guild is the brainchild of the very talented Felicia Day. The first time I saw season 1 of The Guild was at the Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog screening in LA last October. I was sitting two rows behind Felicia who was dressed as a Mexican wrestler. It was Halloween, what can I say. I hadn’t heard of the The Guild until the event (sorry, guys). I was glad I got the opportunity to see it because it was one of the funniest things I’d ever laid eyes on. I don’t play World of Warcraft for any other online multiplayer game (I’d get nothing done all day, I know myself) but I can relate. I have friends that play and I am, above all, a geek. Even if you’re not into online games, it’s just good comedy. If you’re interested, you can buy season 1 and season 2 of The Guild on DVD at Amazon. You can also subscribe on iTunes or watch The Guild website at http://www.watchtheguild.com/. Principle photography on season 3 just wrapped recently (I follow Felicia on Twitter because she is highly entertaining, and informative apparently) so look for that on the web site soon.
Now, the awesomeness of The Guild aside, they recently produced a music video with the help of Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen (brother and future sister-in-law of Joss Whedon) called “Do You Want To Date My Avatar?” The video has been burning up You Tube and topping the charts on iTunes and Amazon downloads all week, and rightfully so. It’s a good time had by all, I assure you.
The You Tube is running kind of choppy right now because it’s getting hit furiously, I’m sure. You won’t get the full effect unless you support The Guild by purchasing it on iTunes. At the low price of $1.49 it’s a bargain. Amazon has it for even cheaper at 99 cents. Buy it please. The cast and crew of The Guild gotta pay the rent, baby!
I don’t know about you, but I could use a little levity in my life so I present you with the opportunity to find some, choppy video or no. Enjoy!

The site has moved so please update your bookmarks! All of my previous posts are here. I haven’t figured out how to move my subscribers over yet so you may have to reregister. I apologize for the inconvenience but I swear I won’t be changing my name again! I decided to go back to my maiden name, Wagner, hence the change. Let me tell you, it has been an expensive and time-consuming process but I feel positive about the future. It’s amazing how one little thing can change your perspective.
The inaugural post on this new site will be the TV schedule I promised you back in May.
Here is a list of the fall and midseason shows sorted by premiere date:
| Date | Show | Network | New? | Notes |
| FALL | ||||
| Sept. 10 | The Vampire Diaries | The CW | Yes | The preview I saw at Comic-Con didn’t bolster much hope for this show but I’ll give it another go. If you’re interested in a Twilight-meets-Gossip-Girl thing you may be more impressed than me. |
| Sept. 10 | Supernatural | The CW | No | The Winchester brothers are back in what may be their final season to battle Lucifer and, hopefully, help mankind survive Armageddon. Let’s boost those ratings so we can convince Eric Kripke we need a 6th season! |
| Sept. 17 | Bones | FOX | No | Bones returns on Thursdays at 8 p.m. I’m wondering how they’re going to handle all of the intimacy stuff between Bones and Booth–real or imagined it changes the dynamic for sure! |
| Sept. 17 | Fringe | FOX | No | Fringe moves to its new night, Thursday, at 9 p.m. I don’t know about you but I’ll have to catch this one on Hulu. Too many shows on Thursday at 9 p.m.! |
| Sept. 18 | Dollhouse | FOX | No | Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse got a reprieve and will premiere at 8 p.m. Like Joss says, they forgot to cancel his show. I for one am glad! If you haven’t seen the unaired episode “Epitaph One” I sincerely beg you to download it from iTunes or, better yet, buy the DVD set. It’s the best episode yet! |
| Sept. 21 | House | FOX | No | Gregory House and his team of diagnosing geniuses return with a two-hour premiere at 8 p.m. |
| Sept. 21 | Heroes | NBC | No | Heroes returns for a fourth season with a two-hour premiere at 8 p.m. Greg Grunberg who plays Matt Parkman assures us that the new season will return to character-based storytelling similar to season 1. |
| Sept. 21 | Castle | ABC | No | Nathan Fillion returns as mystery writer Rick Castle at 10 p.m. Set your DVRs folks, it’s definitely worth it. |
| Sept. 21 | The Big Bang Theory | CBS | No | Big Bang Theory is a new addition to the list. What can I say? They won me over at Comic-Con. The show moves to a new time at 9:30 p.m. |
| Sept. 23 | Eastwick | ABC | Yes | Based on the movie “The Witches of Eastwick” this little gem stars Rebecca Romijn and the steamy likes of Paul Gross. I’m definitely there! Set your DVRs folks because it starts at 10 p.m. |
| Sept. 24 | Flash Forward | ABC | Yes | What if you blacked out for over two minutes and saw what your life is like 6 months from now? I’m looking forward to finding out what happens in this show slated for Thursdays at 8 p.m. However, once again, there are too many shows in that timeslot I want to watch but that’s what Hulu was invented for. |
| Sept. 24 | Grey’s Anatomy | ABC | No | I am addicted to this show, possibly because Jeffrey Dean Morgan keeps showing up unexpectedly. There was one doozy of a cliff hanger last season so I’ll definitely be recording it. This one also airs in the coveted 9 p.m. slot on Thursdays and, I’m sorry ABC, but Supernatural takes precedent! |
| Sept. 24 | The Mentalist | CBS | No | The show the writers of Psych loves to poke fun at returns Thursday nights at 10 p.m. |
| Sept. 25 | The Ghost Whisperer | CBS | No | Moved to Friday nights at 8 p.m. Again, I don’t watch The Ghost Whisperer but I know it’s popular with the sci-fi crowd. |
| Sept. 25 | Medium | CBS | No | Medium jumps from FOX to CBS on Friday nights at 9 p.m. Again, I don’t watch this show but I know it’s popular so I offer the info for your convenience. |
| Sept. 25 | Smallville | The CW | No | Clark Kent and the gang return at 8 p.m. on a new night for what looks to be an awesome season chock full of the Justice League (or some semblance thereof) and General Zod! |
| Sept. 27 | Dexter | Showtime | No | It’s official! Season 4 of the show that chronicles the bloody life of everyone’s favorite serial killer starts at 9 p.m. Don’t forget, John Lithgow plays Dexter’s nemesis this season and it looks like it will be just as great as the previous seasons. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait. |
| Sept. 27 | Californication | Showtime | No | David Duchovny returns as hedonistic writer Hank Moody at 10 p.m. I don’t know how they’re going to top guest star Callum Keith Rennie of last season but I’ll sure tune in to find out. |
| October | White Collar | USA | Yes | While this is not a genre show per se, I’m going to check it out for two reasons: the cast and USA hasn’t steered me wrong thus far. Tim DeKay from HBO’s Carnivale and Matt Bomer from NBC’s Chuck star in this show about a master criminal who works with the FBI to catch slippery criminals. |
| Nov. 3 | V | ABC | Yes | Let me tell you that at 8 p.m. on this day, the world is going to stop for V. I’ve seen the pilot twice and I still want to see it again. I was an avid fan of the show when I was a kid and ABC has done the original proud with this reimagining. |
| MIDSEASON | ||||
| TBA | Chuck | NBC | No | Chuck will be back as a midseason replacement. A new show called “Trauma” (like we need another medical show, people) has taken Chuck’s timeslot after Heroes. The rumor is January or February but they’re hoping for earlier. |
| January | Lost | ABC | Yes | The final season of Lost will premiere midseason. Since Elisabeth Mitchell has moved over to V, I suppose we can figure out what happened to Juliet, but I’m wouldn’t miss the last season for the world! |
| January | Human Target | FOX | Yes | I can’t wait for Human Target! The pilot I saw at Comic-Con whet my appetite and I’m sure it will be a hit like Fringe. |
| January | Past Life | FOX | Yes | I haven’t heard much about this show but it does have an interesting premise. The show is based on the book “The Reincarnationist” by M.J. Rose and follows a psychiatrist that performs past-life regressions. Looks worth checking out. |
There you have it. Until next time we meet again on the Interwebs, my friends!

Imagine if you will that you have a blog and that you have every intention to write in said blog an overview of the Comic-Con convention in a timely fashion. Then imagine that, as John Lennon once said, life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. I’ve been playing catch-up it seems and just didn’t have a chance to do what I said I was going to do. Please forgive me and keep the wet noodle whipping to a minimum. To satisfy your Comic-Con cravings here are links to videos so you can experience some of the panels yourself:
The wacky weather here in Nevada is making my sinuses freak out. Can you believe that it’s only 90 degrees right now? It’s late afternoon in August for Pete’s sake! What is this world coming to? First the weather the last few days has been spring-like at best, then Twitter and Facebook take a nose dive because of a Denial of Service attack on Thursday.
Oh, the humanity! I was very put out, by the way. I have developed a severe addiction to Twitter–I’m sure that I’m not alone. Hacker, you are very cruel indeed…at least leave me an alternative to Twitter such as Facebook if you’re going to take down the site. Twitter kind of freaked me out at first because it seems a bit like sanctioned cyberstalking. However, you get strangely dependent on these 140-character glimpses into the lives of celebrities and non-celebrities alike. Besides, it can be useful; I learn a lot from Twitter. For instance, I discovered they started construction on the Mafia museum here in Vegas on August 4, Apple alumni Guy Kawasaki always posts informative links from his website Alltop.com and I keep up with the creative geniuses of “Heroes”, “Castle”, “Psych”, and “Supernatural”.
Speaking of “Supernatural”, last but not least of my what’s-this-world-coming-to diatribe is the little kernel of knowledge iGoogle just dropped on me: Paris Hilton will be guest starring in episode 5 of season 5. I know she was in House of Wax with Jared Padelecki but, dude, come on! Do you have to ruin my favorite show with the Viscountess of Vapidness? Apparently, she’ll be playing a demon that takes on the form of Paris Hilton. Disturbing as that may seem, it could actually be funny. Dean would have soooo much material to work with.
Jumping back a bit…the season 4 premiere of “Psych” last night was great. Cary Elwes guest starred as a international art thief that Shawn and Gus run into on a ski trip to Whistler near Vancouver. At least the production didn’t have pretend they weren’t in British Columbia, a move that is both genious and cost-effective. I applaud you, USA Networks! Nothing like hearing Lassiter whine because he couldn’t bring his gun to the great white north. If you missed the premiere you can check it out online at USA’s web site.
Till next time!
